What I do with your information

Jacob Tutors is a one-person tutoring business in Calgary, Alberta. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to information you send me through this website.

What I collect

If you use the message form, I collect the name, phone number, email address, course details and message you type into it. If you text me, I have your phone number and whatever you write.

The website and its hosting and security systems may record technical request data, such as your IP address, browser or device information, timestamps and pages requested. Vercel hosts the website and provides its network and runtime services. This data is used to operate and secure the website, not to build an advertising profile.

What I use it for

To reply to you, arrange tutoring, and run the tutoring itself. If you become a client, your details are used to manage sessions, scheduling and payment records. I do not sell your information, and I do not share it with anyone for marketing.

Students

Parents or guardians manage their family’s portal account and the information shown there. I keep preparation and session notes for the tutoring work, what we covered and what to work on next.

How long I keep it

Inquiries that do not become clients are kept while they are still useful to follow up, and deleted when they are not. Client and financial records are kept as long as required for tax and business records.

Reviews

Reviews are published on this site only with the reviewer’s explicit permission, and displayed under the name they chose. If you have given a review and want it taken down, text me and it comes down.

Where it is stored

Supabase provides account authentication and the hosted database. Client and scheduling data is stored in AWS US West (us-west-2), outside Canada, with access controls. Email is sent through Resend. If you choose optional Google sign-in, Google provides basic account information such as your name, email address and profile identifier to authenticate you.

Your choices

You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask me to delete it, subject to records I am required to keep. Text 587-899-8754 and I will sort it out.
