About Jacob

Teaching at SAIT was a great experience, but it made me realize how much I love working with students one-on-one. I get to know them personally, learn how they think, and explain things in a way that works for them.

I live for that “aha” moment when a concept a student has been struggling with finally makes sense and we get to celebrate that together. Being able to see the impact of my work so directly is a big part of why I’m now focusing on tutoring full-time.

Sessions are one-on-one, in your home or at a library.

We usually work through problems from the student’s textbook or class notes. I often ask them to think out loud so I can understand how they’re approaching the question and where they’re getting stuck. We work through those gaps together, taking time to explain the underlying concepts and practise with more examples when needed.

I grew up in Auburn Bay, and I’m still there most weekdays for tutoring and every week for family dinner.

Outside tutoring, I spend a lot of time programming and experimenting with AI. One of my projects is an AI personal assistant, and I’m also working on a board game app. I’m a huge Spider-Man fan and play a lot of Magic: The Gathering. I also enjoy volleyball, skiing and golf.
